Zone Conference 3/30/2011

Hola Familia!

It was great to hear how everyone is doing this week! This week was pretty average. Nothing too exciting except that we had zone conference combined with another zone yesterday. Those are always nice. They focused a lot on working with the members and on inviting people to keep commitments (read, pray, follow commandments, come to church etc) in lessons. Inviting others to keep commitments is how we invite others to repentance...so its important.

Sorry about not sending many pictures. I think its a combination of a few factors. 1. When it's cold I want to spend as little time outside as possible. 2. Everything here is relatively normal so I don't think to take pictures of it 3. I forget. But I will do better I promise =D. We're thinking of going to Chicago this month too so then I will for sure. I am attatching a few pictures from zone conference though! One is of all the Hermanas and Sisters in the two zones and the other is everyone in the two zones (though some people are missing. They escaped somehow)

Even though the people that we're teaching are progressing as slow as ever, we're still having some really good lessons. Also one of the less-active families in the branch that we've been visiting every week told us that they are going to start coming every sunday now! They've come twice in a row so they are off to a good start. They're a really great family. I can't understand the hermano very well because he's missing some of his front teeth, but I can tell he has a really strong testimony. The hermana is super nice and always wants to give us food. They have two little girls (about 3 and 6) that are crazy but like the missionaries a lot. Last time they kept trying to sit on my lap, were playing with my hair, and the youngest kept trying to lick me...(eww).

One of the ladies we are teaching (Maria) is starting to have more of a desire to come to church. She's pretty stubborn but she got excited when we told her about conference next weekend. So hopefully. We've been having this one member come with us who is great and really not afraid to tell her exactly what she thinks about everything. They get a long surprisingly well though. Hmm. It's really helping a lot.

Humberto got a haircut a few days ago. We were so proud of him. Now he just needs a few more outfits because he wears pretty much the same thing every day. He still really wants to get baptized, but we're thinking the quitting smoking might take even longer for him. The hermana who came with us from the branch told him about how her dad who smoked a ton (multiple packs per day) was able to quit smoking after he started listening to the missionaries (and now he teaches the gospel principles class). So I think that encouraged him.

Well I hope everyone has a fantasic week! Good luck with work, school, and everything else!

love,

Hermana West
