Chicago P-day Visit 4/13/2011

Hola Familia!

So I'm here in the Library in Chicago writing my e-mail today. We decided to take an earlier train and find the Library here. We're planning to go to navy pier and don't worry I will take pictures. I took some pictures last p-day too. We found a place to go hiking in Carpentersville. It's through an old race track so that was pretty awesome. We went with the Elders and we found this cool fort in the woods. I'll send them next week...I'm trying to be really fast so we have more time here in the city. This time getting around will be a lot smoother because I have my handy dandy map and I figured out the times for the trains and everything. We'll be meeting some other Hermanas there.

The weather finally has been getting nicer. It's been in the 60's and 70's mainly. But one day it jumped up to 85. It got pretty humid too. So many people are outside now. They came out of hibernation. It's nice to realize that theres actually other people around here. So we've been able to contact more this week which is good. Also this week my companion made Gyros which was pretty awesome. Though my hand smelled like garlic for a while because I helped make the sauce. They were really good.

We visited a lady named victoria this week. She lives on the outskirts of our area it was the reference that the Elders accidentally went to see. She's pretty great though she can't come to church or anything for a while because she's going through chemo therapy right now for breast cancer. But we'll visit her every couple of weeks when she has a break from the treatment. She has a lot of faith and seems to be pretty strong going through this tough time.

Sorry my letter is a little short this week but I'll have more time next week! Thanks for all your support! Have an awesome week. And hopefully the driving goes well with Megan...thats a scary thought...

Love,

 Hermana West

  1. When you get garlic on your hands, rinse them well with cold water and rub vigorously. Do not use soap or hot water, that opens your pores and then your hands can smell like garlic for two days.
