Kids More Friendly 5-11-2011

Hola Familia!

It was great being able to talk on skype this Sunday! Too bad it kept freezing up, it was still cool though. Yesterday the weather decided it would be funny and jumped up nearly 30 degrees. It was about 100. We almost died. The humidity also jumped up too. We had to be outside for a lonnng time too. Today will probably be just as hot if not hotter. Today we're going to Schaumburg for a zone activity. Apparently we'll be playing "Chicago ball". Its supposed to be like baseball only with a larger ball. So that'll be fun. I'm excited. Hna Frandsen and I are still getting along well and we're having a good time.

This week has been pretty good! we've had a few cool experiences. One of them is that we finally had another lesson with a less active who's been avoiding both us and the branch for about 2 months. She says it was because of her arthritis and because she's going through menopause. At the end of the lesson she told us that one of her cousins and one of her friends were both interested in coming to church and taking the "classes" from us. We told her that was great and that we would love to. On Sunday she came with both of them and we have an appointment to start teaching them on Thursday. So we're excited for that.

Also, yesterday we had to knock doors almost all day in the heat but it was good because one lady let us in! She's named Laura and she has 4 kids one which is only about a week and a half old! It was really awkward at first because the kids answered the door and we could hear she was on the phone. They disappeared for a few seconds and came back saying we could come in. We were hesitant though because a lot of times little kids have a tendancy to be more friendly to us than adults. But then she came and beckoned for us to come in and we sat there awkwardly while she finished her phone call. Afterwards though we talked for a bit then started teaching the first lesson. It went pretty well and she said we could come back. We left the restoration DVD and she said she would watch it with her husband. She was super nice. we also found several people who told us to come back (we'll see) and also a few people who just wanted to argue with us/ go away. Pretty normal. I think I might end my mission with an unusal fear of white people because they tend to be the nastiest.

Well everyone I hope that everything continues to go fantastically! Good luck with school, work, swimming (Kevin) and learning how to drive (Megan).

Love,

Hermana West
